I'm trying to sit down a little bit so that I'm looking at you rather than down at you. I hope that this is working.
Today I’m doing a review of Magic Time: The Films and Scripts of Billy Wilder by J.R. Jordan. I read it on my Kobo, which is probably not the ideal way to read this particular book, because there are photographs, captions, footnotes that don't translate well when you take a PDF and then convert it into an epub. Anyhow, having said all that, I just want to say that I enjoyed the book. Wow! Is there some information in there about Billy Wilder and the movies. The movies are discussed in such detail with a great deal of the author's point of view put in there. It was very, very intriguing reading. I mean, if you really want to get into the head of Billy Wilder and his movies, I mean, wow. It's quite a discussion.
So I got to say I was impressed with the level of detail and just the sheer love, obviously, for the films of Billy Wilder and for Billy Wilder himself. I mean, what a remarkable character. I feel ... now I'm sitting up and I'm looking down. Sorry. Anyway, I felt like I really got to know the guy a bit and yeah, all good things, right? Yeah, he was part of an era and a really interesting part of it, and he really made some great films. I mean, my own personal favorites would be like Double Indemnity.
What's that one? Some Like it Hot. Oh, I just dropped my Kobo. Some Like it Hot. What's the other one? Sunset Boulevard. I mean, yeah. Now I want to get to know more of the films of Billy Wilder. That's the way this book left me. So you did your job, you did your job. You sold me on Billy Wilder. Not that I needed much selling, to be honest, but if you've ever had any doubts, read the book and see what you think. All righty then. Take care and talk to you later.
The ebook can be purchased at Amazon.
You'll also find it in print at my online bookstore.
