Hi, today I’m reviewing Saltwater by Katy Hays. This is a very interesting story. It takes place in Capri and there’s this family there that goes there every year, and this is the 30th anniversary of the death of one of the family members, a matriarch, if you will, of sorts. And anyway, it’s just very interesting. It’s told from multiple viewpoints and you get to spend time with each of the characters and they’re all a little bit off in some way or another, but they’re extremely interesting and things get very, very interesting toward the end when all these reveals start coming out. And I have to say that I didn’t see a lot of them coming, but there was one in particular that I did, and nonetheless, it had just the right amount of twists and short chapters. I love that the chapters are short and there’s a feeling of propulsion throughout as you’re reading this book.

It’s interesting because it’s described in one of the descriptions I’ve seen of it as a “slow burn psychological thriller.” I think that’s probably true, and the short chapters really put you in the heads of different characters. And that’s, that’s it. I mean, it’s like you’re kind of hopping around and getting to know these people and you think you’re getting to know them anyway. What they will tell you about themselves in that moment.

Anyway, I thought it was a very interesting read. It certainly kept me engaged and kept me going. So I would recommend this for anybody who enjoys reading about dysfunctional rich families and their problems and twisty solutions to same. Let’s put it that way. Twisty is a great way to describe this book, full of plot twists and interesting reveals here and there. Some of which may have you go, “Really?” But I don’t think it’s impossible, let’s put it that way. Okay, so having said that, that’s it then. And I enjoyed this book very much and would recommend it to others who enjoy psychological thrillers of a slow burn variety. That’s it. Talk to you later. Be seeing you.

You can get the ebook from these retailers.

You can also get it in print from my online bookstore and support indie bookstores.
