Hi, today I'm reviewing The Department by Jacqueline Faber. This is a really, really good book. It's about a girl who goes missing, a young woman I should say, who goes missing. She's a college student and there's a philosophy professor protagonist, who is looking for her, thinking about what happened to her. And this is based on a totally random encounter he has with her. It's really kind of interesting the way he gets involved. It's very random, and I kind of like that actually, the random quality of life coming out in that moment and him being so intrigued by her being missing and things she was asking about, whether it was worth it to be a philosophy major or whatever. He's a philosophy professor and what struck me about him was how he simply could not get over not being with his ex-wife. He could not get over their divorce.
