One of my very feeeble skillsets is online searching. What I lack in terms of typing speed and (occasionally) accuracy, I more than make up for in terms of search skills.
It also helps that I’m a journalist by training at the University of Maryland, College Park, where I wrote for the Citizen Call, a newspaper produced by students and overseen by faculty member Laurie Schneider, who later married and became Laurie Grunig.
When I think of Laurie, I always think of this band. The reason for that is a story Laurie should tell, since it’s her story and I wouldn’t want to pilfer it. But I’ll always think of that guy band.
Sorry. Didn’t mean to bore you with that little story. I was going somewhere with this, but then I went off on a tangent. Must be the Irish in me. However, I’m also part English, Scottish, and Swedish and that massive coalition is now yelling at me: “Hey, you idiot! Shut it and get on with things!”
So, yeah. Onward. Here are a few curated links (by me, without the use of AI) to stuff I found on the internet. (Is it still spelled with a small “i”? Or have they changed the terms and conditions rules again?)
Short Stories
“When Life Gives You the Slip” by Curtis Ippolito. (Who has an absolutely gorgeous web site.)
“What Really Happened at the Microbe Mart” by John Timm. And, wow! So that’s Close to the Bone.
“Internal Monologue of a Creative Writing Professor: Mystery Short Story” by Richie Narvaez. Took me a bit, but I totally get what you’re doing there now. I think.
