One of my very feeeble skillsets is online searching. What I lack in terms of typing speed and (occasionally) accuracy, I more than make up for in terms of search skills.
It also helps that I’m a journalist by training at the University of Maryland, College Park, where I wrote for the Citizen Call, a newspaper produced by students and overseen by faculty member Laurie Schneider, who later married and became Laurie Grunig.
When I think of Laurie, I always think of this band. The reason for that is a story Laurie should tell, since it’s her story and I wouldn’t want to pilfer it. But I’ll always think of that guy band.
Sorry. Didn’t mean to bore you with that little story. I was going somewhere with this, but then I went off on a tangent. Must be the Irish in me. However, I’m also part English, Scottish, and Swedish and that massive coalition is now yelling at me: “Hey, you idiot! Shut it and get on with things!”
So, yeah. Onward. Here are a few curated links (by me, without the use of AI) to stuff I found on the internet. (Is it still spelled with a small “i”? Or have they changed the terms and conditions rules again?)
Short Stories
“When Life Gives You the Slip” by Curtis Ippolito. (Who has an absolutely gorgeous web site.)
“What Really Happened at the Microbe Mart” by John Timm. And, wow! So that’s Close to the Bone.
“Internal Monologue of a Creative Writing Professor: Mystery Short Story” by Richie Narvaez. Took me a bit, but I totally get what you’re doing there now. I think.

Book Reviews with Giveaways
Trust me, there’s more.
"The Arizona Triangle" By Sydney Graves: Review/Giveaway. (And, I gotta tell ya, this book is very much on my in-the-process-of-reading list. It’s just that what with the million many, many requests I get for reviews/appearances on my podcast/interviews, which BTW, I love doing, it can be tough to finish a book when you have six or ten others (that you know of) crying out to be read. Yeah, just sayin’.)
"Killer Under Contract" By Catherine Bruns: Review/Giveaway.

Obits
Even if I can’t visit your graves and whisper “Merry Christmas” to you, know that you’ve been/are/will be remembered.
And in Conclusion
I wonder what Harlan Ellison would think of Facebook. :)
The latest issue of Black Cat Weekly #173 is out!
And so am I.
But not before I tell you about this.
Have I mentioned that all my ebooks are half-off on Smashwords until January 1, 2025!
Including my New York Times bestselling debut novel, Identity Crisis. As well as the rest of my Sam McRae novels.
You can also buy the book directly from me at my online store.
And here's the book trailer!
PLUS, a whole playlist of readings from the book! I've improved my acting reading skills since.
And here's a video I made ages ago about Sam McRae's neighborhood in Laurel, MD!
You can get my book on Amazon, in print only. And also if you subscribe to Audible, too, I guess.
But all my audiobooks are available for sale directly from my online store at a reduced price. Along with all my ebooks.
PS: Have I mentioned my Substack newsletter? Well, that's one of them, anyway.
Here's another one. (A very confusing one, at this point, but that can change.)
Yep, here we go again.
PPS: Only took 2-1/2 hours to compile and read the contents of (most of) the linked publications. Not counting review time. I believe that’s worth something.
But what do you think?
I’m giving you lot three days to answer this bugger. Please do so. Pretty please.
Yeah, it’s a Sunday. And I just happened to find this song.
No words …
Except happy holidays!
PPPS: Hang on! Because I found this! My thanks to Writer Girl Karin. You just saved me a whole lot of typing. :)
PPPPS: Oh, my God! Why? Because reasons. And you can never have enough content.
It reminds me of Brazil and Severance. I’ll admit I’ve never seen Severance, but I’ve read the pilot script I think I get the gist.
And there’s one more link I forgot.
Film Review: WALKING WHILE BLACK: L.O.V.E. Is The Answer by Debbi Mack.
I did mention I was a journalist, right? :)
And as an aside …
We hope to raise $50.000 by December 31st, 2024, to keep Cinephilia & Beyond independent and free.
It is what it is, as the saying used to go.
Over and out! :)
Why My Self-Published Book Failed [Miserably].
Tell me about it. :)
Medium, dude? Really? And Amazon AND Facebook ads!
Wrong direction. *shakes head sadly*
Would you like to know how fucking much I used to spend on promotions that didn’t work, time and effort arranging launch plans that ended in abject nothingness? Probably not.
Want to know how many people dismissed my concerns about Amazon as … unworthy of thought?
It really was no fun.
Don’t worry. It’ll all figure prominently in my memoirs. Bet on it! :)
I would recommend hiring an editor, though. Writers groups and beta readers aren’t enough. Get a professional to review it. Quality matters.
