CHAPTER SIXTY-THREE
Terry thought it was too late in the day to be visiting a petting zoo. But I found the place using my phone, noted the route, and saw that it was open until 6:00 pm. We had nearly an hour to get there. My friend had also grown more cautious with age. En route, Terry proceeded to question my entire investigative approach.
“Do you even know the layout?” he asked as I drove up New Hampshire Avenue. “Or what you’re looking for?”
“Anything that connects my now-deceased clients with any illegal activities. That would be great for starters. As for the layout,” I let out a dismissive huff. “You saw how small the place is. Compared to some buildings I’ve searched . . . .” I let the rest of that thought go.
